Presented by Cody Jung from Arctic Heat Pumps, an air-to-water heat pump manufacturer in Canada, this presentation reviews the calculations required to accurately predict energy input/output for any air source heat pump over an average heating season for any residential/light commercial building in any location. The calculations used to demonstrate the SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) prediction method includes Arctic air-to-water heat pumps performance data and NYC weather data as inputs. This serves to provide a localized exhibit of the capabilities of Arctic Heat Pumps in the NYC area as they relate to performance and efficiency.Â
Cody Jung is the sales manager for Arctic Heat Pumps, an air-to-water heat pump manufacturer in Canada specializing in the design and supply of modern hydronic systems. Cody has spent 10 years in the renewable energy business, working with solar thermal, solar PV, geothermal, and Air to Water in the process. Air-to-water heat pumps are amongst the most versatile heating/cooling devices in North America. To reliably utilize this product versatility requires knowledge, experience, and a solutions mindset. Cody Jung processes these qualities and has helped to orientate Arctic Heat Pumps as hydronic solutions leaders in North America.
Navigating the Future of Commercial Water Heating, explores the upcoming DOE 2026 regulatory updates and their impact on efficiency, venting, and retrofit design. It reviews the history of DOE standards, explains the differences between Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) and Thermal Efficiency (TE), and outlines new requirements that will mandate condensing technology for most commercial water heating equipment. Attendees learn about venting categories, condensate management, and design considerations for both retrofit and new installations. The session emphasizes how these changes will reshape product selection, installation practices, and long-term energy savings for commercial applications

This course will review the current industry standards for sizing booster packages, and by extension plumbing systems. By comparing the variability of design flow across different standards and deviations from actual consumption, we discuss the extent to which over-sizing occurs. We then cover the impact of over-sizing residential, commercial, institutional pressure boosting systems and why accurate selection matters. Participants will learn about booster flow, right-sizing benefits, drawdown tank sizing, and key design and equipment considerations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
